The Binghamton Justice Project

U.T.U.R.N is a mentoring program, which is geared towards the development of young men who are currently serving time in a maximum-security youth detention center. This detention center is ninety percent men of color. These young men look forward to interacting with people that look like them and have similar backgrounds and features, hence the value of the program. It also provides insight for Binghamton University students who would like to spend their time helping those in need. As counselors one can gain hands on experience working with and assisting young men in an enclosed environment. The Black Student Union provides transportation to and from the facility on the specified Sundays that the program is scheduled. As a program, our goal is to provide educational and recreational opportunities while serving as role models. Contact: Yamilka De Dios
